WRC Hunt Test

July 4-5, 2009

The Westchester Retriever Club, a member of the Master National Retriever Club, invites you to our AKC licensed Hunt Tests on July 4-5, 2009 at the Stewart State Forest, Route 17K, Newburgh, New York. This Hunting Test is open to all retriever breeds, Irish Water Spaniels, Nova Scotia Duck Tollers, and Standard Poodles.

While using the property at Stewart State Forest, we are under the regulations of the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), whose primary focus is wildlife preservation.

  • Our use is strictly limited to designated areas only; NO OTHER ACCESS OR DRIVING WILL BE PERMITTED.
  • Speed limits will not exceed 15 MPH anywhere in the park.
  • Be extremely cautious of ALL wildlife on the roadways -- they have the right of way.
  • Extra care should be taken to avoid injury to other park users (hikers, bicyclists, and horse riders.)
  • Vehicles must be kept ON the roadway, NOT parked in the grass.
  • Park in designated areas, and only on one side of the road.
  • Do not leave ANY litter behind and be careful with matches and smoking materiels. T
  • reat the land, its inhabitants and other visitors with respect and be an ambassador for our sport.
  • Failure to use good judgment will result in denial of future permits for the entire dog training community.

DIRECTIONS

The grounds are easily accessible from the New York State Thruway (I-87) and I-84.
Westbound I-84 take exit 5A - at traffic light, make a right onto International Blvd (Rte 747). Travel 1 mile, make left onto 17K, travel 1 mile, make left onto Ridge Rd. (Top Dog Deli on corner), go to end of road. The entrance to the park is gated. This gate must be kept locked at all times so relock it behind you whenever you enter or exit. The combination to the WRC lock is 1010, RELOCK THE GATE EXACTLY AS YOU FOUND IT. Relocking incorrectly could lock out DEC officials, which results in substantial fines and/or revocation of our permit.

Eastbound I-84 take exit 5A at traffic light make right onto International Blvd (Rte 747). Travel 1 mile, make left onto 17K, travel 1 mile, make left onto Ridge Rd. From Baron Road gate - take Baron Rd to 17K, make right onto 17k, travel 1.5 miles and make right onto Ridge Rd (Top Dog Deli on corner) - go to end of road. The entrance to the park is gated. This gate must be kept locked at all times so relock it behind you whenever you enter or exit. The combination to the WRC lock is 1010, RELOCK THE GATE EXACTLY AS YOU FOUND IT. Relocking incorrectly could lock out DEC officials, which results in substantial fines and/or revocation of our permit.

ACCOMMODATIONS: It is difficult to find motels that accept dogs in the Hudson Valley. Check with motels in advance about their policies--most do not allow dogs in rooms. Pick up after your dogs and do not allow them to bark in vehicles or disturb the other patrons. Please do not jeopardize future motel accommodations by acting irresponsibly.

RUNNING ORDER: Running orders are available on line at www.entryexpress.net.

SCRATCHES: Notify the hunt test secretary or marshal BEFORE the start of the stake if you have a dog to scratch. Refunds will be given for bitches in season, injury, illness, or death, if a veterinary certificate is presented.

RESULTS: Results will be available after the event at www.entryexpress.net.
